QUE PASA 9/18/2024 (ENGLISH)

Dear Parents,

This Sunday, we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, or as we lovingly call it, Mercy Day! We remember our Sisters of Mercy, who (along with the Christian Brothers) founded our beloved St. Peter’s School and continue to care for and support our students, teachers, and families to this day.

We are grateful for Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy; and for Mother Baptist Russell, who traveled from Ireland and established schools and hospitals in America.  We are grateful for the loving contributions of our Sisters of Mercy today—including Sister Lucy, Sister Pauline, Sister Paulina, and Sister Toni Lynn—all who help to guide us at St. Peter’s School.  The sisters of Mercy are living examples to us for living out the mission of Mercy, as they have shown selfless love and dedication to St. Peter’s School.

And what is mercy?  MERCY means to show love and compassion towards others; to forgive others and to be grateful to be forgiven by others; to show charity and generosity, especially to those in need; to have the courage to stand up for what’s right, especially for others who are afraid to stand up for themselves; to have faith in God.  MERCY means having an open heart and open mind.

Let’s remember to be thankful for all the good works of the Sisters of Mercy, keep them in our prayers, and try our best to live out the mission of Mercy ourselves, not only at St. Peter’s School, but everywhere!

ALUMNI MEMORIAL AND MERCY DAY MASS

You are invited to join us at St. Peter’s annual Alumni Memorial and Mercy Day Mass on Sunday, September 22 at 2:30 PM in St. Peter’s Church.  A reception in the parish hall will follow the Mass.

At this Mass, we will remember our Sisters of Mercy, who founded St. Peter’s School.  We will also pray for St. Peter’s alumni and friends who have gone home to God.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the setup and clean-up of the reception.  If you are interested, please call the school office at 415-647-8662.

**Students who attend this Mass in full uniform will receive a free dress pass to be used on the following day!

MERCY DAY AND HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH PRAYER SERVICE

SPECIAL SURVEY

A FAMILY INCOME SURVEY has been sent home with the oldest child in each family.  These surveys help our school participate in the Title I, Part A Federal Program. This very important program provides extra academic and social-emotional support for our students.  Please complete the survey and return it to your child’s teacher by the September 27 due date.  Thank you for your support and cooperation!

ASBESTOS LETTER

Please scroll down for the Asbestos notification from the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

DIMES FROM HEAVEN

Next week (from September 23-27), Student Council is hosting our annual “Dimes From Heaven” fundraiser.  We will raise money for Student Council events, and we’re donating part of the proceeds to The Palestine Children’s Fund.  It’s also a class competition to see which class raises the most money, so your class has a chance to win an ice cream treat!  Student Council doesn’t just take dimes… they take all money, dollars and cents!

Throughout the year, we will continue to collect for those in need in our weekly Missions collection to support the MCA (Missionary Childhood Association) as one way to live out the Works of Mercy!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Our Family Movie Night on Friday, September 27th at 7:00 p.m. fast approaches!
