Dear Parents,
I often comment to myself that there are not enough hours in the day to get through my to-do list. I imagine this is a common feeling among fellow parents, especially as the holiday season approaches and as the amount of daylight lessens during the winter season! But this reflection below (by Barbara Johnson from God Always Has a Plan B), could serve as a reminder to us to appreciate the present and all its challenges and celebrations, and keep learning, growing, and moving forward!
“What about those of us who’d like to turn back the clock? Sure, we’d like to be younger and stronger again. More resilient. But remember Isaiah? He said to let the past lie. Look ahead. Someone has said, ‘Don’t look back. You’re not going that way.’ It is never too late to spend time on the important things. This minute is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.” ☺
Let us all be thankful for all our blessings, especially those that are disguised as challenges. Those are opportunities for us to GROW!
--Mrs. Sandra Jimenez
GRATITUDE GRAMS
This week on Thursday and Friday (November 14-15), the Student Council will be selling “Gratitude Grams.” For $1.00, you can let someone know that you are grateful for them, and they will also get a piece of Candy with the message when it is delivered. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the 7th grade retreat.
STAR ASSESSMENTS
This week, students will be wrapping up with window #2 of STAR assessments in reading and math. These assessments are required by the Archdiocese and offer data on students’ academic growth. Results from these assessments help to inform teachers’ planning in order to help students. Results of the November STAR assessments will be shared with parents when Trimester 1 report cards are sent home after the Thanksgiving break.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s STAR tests, please contact your child’s teacher.
SPECIAL VISITORS
This week, we will have special visitors coming to St. Peter’s School! On Thursday, November 14, we welcome our mentors from the Two-Way Immersion Network of Catholic Schools (TWIN-CS) from The Roche Center at Boston College. They continue to provide us with guidance and resources as we develop our Dual Language Immersion program. On Friday, November 15, we welcome Archdiocese Superintendent of Schools Chris Fisher. For these upcoming visits, it will be these guests’ first time at St. Peter’s School, and we are excited to welcome them and share the good news of St. Peter’s.
SCHOOL PICTURE RE-TAKES
LifeTouch School Photo Re-Take Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19. If your child was absent on our first picture day, or would like to re-take their school photo, he/she may take their photo on November 19 in their complete school uniform.
To order online, go to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and enter our Picture Day ID: EVTWWHNJF
* If you purchased a photo package from the original picture day but would like to return that package for a new photo, please have your child bring the COMPLETE photo package back to school, and he/she may take a re-take photo. You will receive the same photo package once the re-take photos are ready.

CALENDAR REMINDERS
As noted on our school calendar, Monday, November 25 is a Minimum day (12:30 Dismissal) while teachers attend a meeting.
Also, there is no school Wednesday-Friday, November 27-29, for our Thanksgiving Break. School will resume on Monday, December 2 with a regular schedule.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
We live our core value to UNITE as students wear their school uniform with pride. Please remember that the complete daily uniform includes the plain white polo shirt, navy slacks or uniform skirt/jumper, green uniform sweatshirt, black or white socks, and solid black or solid white sneakers (tennis shoes).
On Fridays (unless there is a church service), students may wear the optional gray Aztecs hoodie, Aztecs sweatpants, and Aztecs T-shirt.
** To purchase the gray Aztecs sweats, obtain an order form in the school office.
For more details on the school uniform, refer to the Uniform section of the Parent-Student Handbook that was distributed on the first day of school, which is also available on the school website: http://www.stpeterssf.org/parents-students
Students who are out of uniform will receive a “Uniform Notice” to be signed by a parent or guardian, as a reminder about the uniform policy, and to help us unite as a school community!
