QUE PASA 11/20/2024 (ENGLISH)

Dear Parents,

This Friday marks the end of our first Trimester, and the students have grown in many ways!  The teachers and I value our partnership with you, so that we can work together to help all students grow and meet their goals.  To help refresh your memory as we enter into the second trimester, and because these are an important part of our school culture, I am re-sharing the St. Peter’s Schoolwide Learning Expectations, also known as “SLEs.”  These expectations can extend into the home to help students live out our CORE VALUES to Grow, Accomplish, Love, Serve, and Unite!

A St. Peter’s student has the KEYS to…

GROW by...

- setting and evaluating individual goals to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, academically, and physically.

- embracing new experiences with an open heart and open mind.

- facing challenges with optimism and faith in God.

ACCOMPLISH by...

- listening and communicating effectively in social and academic environments.

- demonstrating critical thinking skills and knowledge in all subject areas.

- using technology effectively and responsibly.

LOVE by…

- making choices based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.

- nurturing a spiritual life through prayer, retreats, masses, and the sacraments.

- demonstrating an appreciation for what others have done for us.

SERVE by…

- living out the corporal and spiritual Works of Mercy.

- sharing time, gifts, and joy with the school community.

- participating in outreach to strengthen ties with those outside of our school community.

UNITE by…

- engaging in weekly school Mass and morning prayer assemblies.

- supporting and encouraging others in order to strengthen school community.

- welcoming people of all backgrounds as St. Peter’s community members.

Thank you for your support during this first Trimester. Now, on to Trimester 2!

--Mrs. Sandra Jimenez

CALENDAR REMINDERS

As noted on our school calendar, Monday, November 25 is a Minimum day (12:30 Dismissal) while teachers attend a meeting.

Also, there is no school Wednesday-Friday, November 27-29, for our Thanksgiving Break.  School will resume on Monday, December 2 with a regular schedule.

REPORT CARDS

With the conclusion of Trimester 1, teachers will be working on students’ Trimester 1 grades.  Trimester 1 report cards will be sent home with students on Monday, December 2 (after the Thanksgiving break).  STAR assessment results will also be sent home along with the report cards.

Parents – please sign your child’s report card and return to their teacher by Friday, December 6.

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING

This Sunday, November 24  is the last Sunday of the liturgical year, and is celebrated as The Feast of Christ the King.  Then, on the following Sunday (December 1), we begin ADVENT–the beginning of the new liturgical year and our preparation time for Jesus’ birth!  During the season of Advent, students and teachers will complete various activities to prepare our hearts for the birth of Jesus!

SCHOOL UNIFORMS

We live our core value to UNITE as students wear their school uniform with pride.  Please remember that the complete daily uniform includes the plain white polo shirt, navy slacks or uniform skirt/jumper, green uniform sweatshirt, black or white socks, and solid black or solid white sneakers (tennis shoes).

On Fridays (unless there is a church service), students may wear the optional gray Aztecs hoodie, Aztecs sweatpants, and Aztecs T-shirt.

** To purchase the gray Aztecs sweats, obtain an order form in the school office.

For more details on the school uniform, refer to the Uniform section of the Parent-Student Handbook that was distributed on the first day of school, which is also available on the school website: http://www.stpeterssf.org/parents-students

Students who are out of uniform will receive a “Uniform Notice” to be signed by a parent or guardian, as a reminder about the uniform policy, and to help us unite as a school community!
