Dear Parents,
This Friday marks the end of our first Trimester, and the students have grown in many ways! The teachers and I value our partnership with you, so that we can work together to help all students grow and meet their goals. To help refresh your memory as we enter into the second trimester, and because these are an important part of our school culture, I am re-sharing the St. Peter’s Schoolwide Learning Expectations, also known as “SLEs.” These expectations can extend into the home to help students live out our CORE VALUES to Grow, Accomplish, Love, Serve, and Unite!
A St. Peter’s student has the KEYS to…
GROW by...
- setting and evaluating individual goals to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, academically, and physically.
- embracing new experiences with an open heart and open mind.
- facing challenges with optimism and faith in God.
ACCOMPLISH by...
- listening and communicating effectively in social and academic environments.
- demonstrating critical thinking skills and knowledge in all subject areas.
- using technology effectively and responsibly.
LOVE by…
- making choices based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- nurturing a spiritual life through prayer, retreats, masses, and the sacraments.
- demonstrating an appreciation for what others have done for us.
SERVE by…
- living out the corporal and spiritual Works of Mercy.
- sharing time, gifts, and joy with the school community.
- participating in outreach to strengthen ties with those outside of our school community.
UNITE by…
- engaging in weekly school Mass and morning prayer assemblies.
- supporting and encouraging others in order to strengthen school community.
- welcoming people of all backgrounds as St. Peter’s community members.
Thank you for your support during this first Trimester. Now, on to Trimester 2!
– Mrs. Sandra Jimenez
THANKSGIVING BREAK
As noted on our school calendar, our Thanksgiving break is Wednesday-Friday, November 22-24. School will resume on Monday, November 27 with a MINIMUM DAY (12:30 dismissal) schedule.
CYO ATHLETICS
We are preparing for the next sports seasons of girls’ soccer and boys’ basketball. Sports fees for boys’ basketball and girls’ soccer are due on Monday, November 20. Payments may be made at the school office or on Venmo @SPathletics. (Please be sure to include your child’s name, grade, and SPORTS FEE in the comments section.)
If you have any questions, please contact the school office or Athletic Director Raquel Rangel at rrangelad@sanpedro.org.
STUDENT COUNCIL FUNDRAISERS
Thank you for your support as our Student Council held their snack sale to raise money for the children of Palestine. We raised nearly $300 which will be donated to the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
The next Student Council fundraiser will be held on November 16-17. They will be selling “Gratitude Grams” for $1.00 each. Proceeds from this fundraiser will support our 7th graders as they raise funds for their Caritas Camp Retreat.
SCHOOL PICTURE RE-TAKES
LifeTouch School Photo Re-Take Day is scheduled for Tuesday, November 28. If your child was absent on our first picture day, or would like to re-take their school photo, he/she may take their photo on November 28 in their complete school uniform.
To order online, go to https://my.lifetouch.com/mylifetouch/#/ and enter our Picture Day ID: EVTT8N94S
* If you purchased a photo package from the original picture day but would like to return that package for a new photo, please have your child bring the COMPLETE photo package back to school, and he/she may take a re-take photo. You will receive the same photo package once the re-take photos are ready.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS
We live our core value to UNITE as students wear their school uniform with pride. Please remember that the complete daily uniform includes the plain white polo shirt, navy slacks or uniform skirt/jumper, green uniform sweatshirt, black or white socks, and solid black or solid white sneakers (tennis shoes).
On Fridays (unless there is a church service), students may wear the optional gray Aztecs hoodie, Aztecs sweatpants, and Aztecs T-shirt.
** To purchase the gray Aztecs sweats, obtain an order form in the school office.
For more details on the school uniform, refer to the Uniform section of the Parent-Student Handbook that was distributed on the first day of school, which is also available on the school website: http://www.stpeterssf.org/parents-students
Students who are out of uniform will receive a “Uniform Notice” to be signed by a parent or guardian, as a reminder about the uniform policy, and to help us unite as a school community!
