QUE PASA 11/13/2019 (English)

Dear Parents,

I often comment to myself that there are not enough hours in the day to get through my to-do list.  I imagine this is a common feeling among fellow parents—with all our work responsibilities, children’s activities, and other personal and family obligations.  Now, especially as the holiday season approaches and as the amount of daylight lessens during the winter season, our to-do list might be getting longer yet with a more limited time-frame!  But this reflection below (by Barbara Johnson from God Always Has a Plan B), could serve as a reminder to us to appreciate the present and all its challenges and celebrations, and keep learning, growing, and moving forward!

“What about those of us who’d like to turn back the clock?  Sure, we’d like to be younger and stronger again. More resilient.  But remember Isaiah?  He said to let the past lie.  Look ahead.  Someone has said, ‘Don’t look back.  You’re not going that way.’  It is never too late to spend time on the important things.  This minute is a gift.  That’s why we call it the present.”

Let us all be thankful for all our blessings, especially those that are disguised as challenges.  Those are opportunities for us to GROW!

 --Mrs. Sandra Jimenez

APPOINTMENTS WITH TEACHERS

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your Parent-Teacher Conference appointments last week! These conferences are very important so that you can learn more about your child’s progress and ways to work with teachers to support your child’s growth in different areas. Moving forward, feel free to make appointments with teachers when you have a question or concern.  Please avoid last-minute morning meeting with teachers, as teachers use this morning time to prepare their materials for the day so that they can best meet your child’s needs.  If you would like a morning meeting, notify the teacher ahead of time by email or ClassDojo, or by calling the office a day in advance.  We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

The next Family Movie Night (Toy Story 4) is this Friday, November 15, in the gym.  Snacks will also be on sale on movie night, and if students attend in pajamas, they can earn a UNITE Key!  Tickets are LIMITED.  Purchase your tickets early before they sell out!

SUNDAY 11:00 A.M. MASS

Do you attend the 11:00 Mass at St. Peter’s Church? After this mass, we need a few Spanish-speaking school representatives for a brief time (about 20 minutes) to help our school.  If you are interested in helping or for more information, please contact the school office.

IN THE CLASSROOM

KINDER - The holidays are coming upon us fast! Our days will be very busy and please pay close attention to anything coming home. And hopefully our little Buzzing Elves will have some magic up their sleeves!

3A – 3A students have completed their Family Turkey Project. They are all very bright, colorful, and quite creative. Stop by the classroom to view and enjoy them. In Math, we have completed our comprehensive review and are moving forward with the 3rd grade curriculum. The individualized basic fact tests that we take daily are providing needed practice to refresh and deepen our knowledge of these facts. Several third graders have mastered addition and subtraction basic facts and are well into the multiplication drills. The students that study REGULARLY and get practice and help at home are moving much faster. Keep it up parents, you're doing a fine job!
